I was born (10 lbs, 11oz ~ no lie!) and raised with an older brother in Colorful Colorado by a wonderful mother and father. I majored in Spanish and Latin American Studies at the University of Kansas (spending one VERY EXCEPTIONAL year as an exchange student at the University of Costa Rica in San Jose way back in 1990). After graduation, I gracefully leapt over 'the real world' by embarking on a solo Eurail trip. The Eurail trip more or less ended in Norway, which led to a trip to Egypt, which led me back to the UK to spend some quality time with my last surviving grandparent at the time. Since then I have traveled, worked, and/or lived in several wonderful places including much of Central America, North America, Europe, Australia, Thailand, the Caribbean, and Africa. I have and always will love and be grateful for the many benefits of travel and the outdoors.
My first 'real job' (with a W2 form) in life was as a dishwasher at 'The Bagel Nosh'. My most recent job was as a department manager for a small international relocation company in Switzerland. My first 'real' volunteer position in life was as a Junior Ski Patroller at Winter Park, CO ski resort. The most recent and life-changing volunteer position was as a 'voluntourist' in Livingstone, Zambia on a Public Health and Medical project. Every day I thank my lucky stars for these experiences and all of those that fell in between ~ each and every experience, so utterly priceless in it's own way.
Today, I look forward to the astronomical and exciting leap in the way of a career change to the wild and wonderful world of non-profit business. As a wise man by the name of Albert Schweitzer once said, "I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve."
Hope to see you in Costa Rica soon!
