Ready to take the Road Less Traveled? Globe Aware has opened a new program in the Philippines!

Come with us to the province of Nueva Ecija, about 100 miles from Manila. The unique mix of a former Spanish colony with Asian and American influence make the Philippines a true cultural gem. The country offers gorgeous sites, kind people, and an incredibly multicultural heaven, yet the islands and its people have suffered from a variety of economic, environmental and social problems. The community where we work consists of women, children, and those disabled who bear the effect of massive poverty. Our program seeks to promote the value of “Bayanihan” a Filipino value of working together towards sustainable community development through volunteerism.

Our work projects center around these core activities:
  • Education assistance for disabled children
  • Repair/construction of houses for families of the disabled
  • Reforestation
  • Repair or construction of basic housing and sanitation buildings
In your non project time, you’ll meeting with different tribes, exploring historical sites and learning a bit on Filipino cooking.

5 Reasons why you should travel to the Philippines

  1. Filipinos are the most kind and friendly people, extremely welcoming and curious, but also respectful. They always seem happy and are smiling, and they love to sing and to dance whenever there is an occasion to celebrate

  2. Filipinos love their food and there are a lot of things worth trying! It probably describes it best to say, Filipino food is a mix of Malay, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and American cuisine. The food is full of flavor and super tasty!

  3. Philippines is one of the largest island groups in the world with 7,107 islands.

  4. The queen of all the beaches is probably White Beach in Boracay, constantly rated as one of the Top 10 beaches of the world. Philippines is home of a diverse range of birds, plants, animals and sea creatures. There are nearly 200 mammal species in the Philippines. The Philippine Tarsier is one of the smallest species of monkeys in the world. You will find more than 600 species of birds, over 300 species of reptiles and amphibians and at least 400 coral species.

  5. Philippines has some stunning surroundings, the fantastic Chocolate Hills in Bohol, the Rice Terraces in Banaue, the incredible Archipelago of El Nido. You can climb one of the 37 volcanoes, for example the Mount Pinatubo, or see the world's smallest volcano of Taal. You can discover caves, lakes and waterfalls. If you love nature, you will love the Philippines.
