Zimbabwe

You will be staying at a small town called Dete, which is 2 hours south of the magnificent Victoria Falls and on the edge of Hwange National Park. Hwange is by far the largest Park in Zimbabwe with a huge and varied quantity of animals and birds. The park is unfenced so animals particularly elephant, Cape Buffalo and impala do wander in to the town and occasionally the school grounds.

Globe Aware’s Cambodia program in Siem Reap is full of opportunities to enrich the lives of local Cambodians while exploring the riches and wonder of a fascinating city! Take part in building and distributing wheel chairs to land mine victims, teaching English to Buddhist monks and impoverished children, constructing wells and completing home improvements, and providing alternative activities for street children to help lead them toward a better future. During free time, volunteers can participate in cultural activities like cooking classes and optional excursions to the famous Angkor Wat temple complex, the floating village at Tonle Sap Lake, and other local landmarks. Costa Rica - Orosi Valley

Globe Aware’s Costa Rica program takes place about an hour from the city of San Jose in the gorgeous, hidden valley of Orosi. There in Orosi, villagers of the small community of El Yaz enjoy their natural paradise, but struggle to make ends meet as their access to sustainable jobs, hot water, transportation, and proper nutrition are limited. Through this program, volunteers have the opportunity to engage in agricultural work and organic farming and gardening in order to benefit these struggling villagers. Projects often focus on permaculture, reforestation, and environmental issues. Volunteers will stay in a rented house in the midst of beautiful, lush vegetation with running hot water, flushing toilets, and electricity. Leisure activities include nature hikes, horse-back riding, and bathing in natural hot springs. Come enjoy the beauty of the Orosi Valley and help protect and preserve the paradise of the rainforest!

China

Visit China with Globe Aware and help provide a quality education for children who have lost their educational opportunities due to urban migration. Volunteers will work in the only true non-profit school for migrant children by completing projects to improve the school’s infrastructure and teaching English pronunciation and language skills to the students. During free time, volunteers will have the opportunity to sightsee around Beijing and visit iconic sights such as the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden Temple, and Tiananmen Square. Volunteers will stay in a modest hotel located near the school with private bathrooms and modern amenities. Come experience the wonders of this ancient society and bring hope and opportunity to the forgotten children of China.
