It has been a busy summer for Globe Aware in Cambodia! We are delighted to report over the past two months, four families have spent time working (and having fun) in various service projects in the villages near Siem Reap. Family volunteer travel is a wonderful way to spend meaningful time together, while teaching hands-on values of compassion, cross-cultural understanding, and global responsibility. We are so thankful these families traveled the extra miles to make a difference in the lives of others.
Help send children to school with nourishing lunchesFor many of us, the vacations are over, and we are sending our children back to school.
We might not stop to think about how fortunate we are to have the means to send our children to school with a nourishing lunch. Unfortunately, this is not the case in many places around the world.
Many children at the school we partner with in Ghana cannot afford a lunch.
Hunger is one of the most prominent obstacles hindering a child’s learning process. Help us feed the kindergarten children lunch by supporting the Ghana Lunch Box Project. $11 feeds a child for an entire month! We thank you in advance for helping to fuel these young minds.

On September 15th, China will celebrate their Mid-Autumn Festival, commonly known as the “Moon Festival.” It is the second most important festival to Chinese people, and an important time to gather with friends and loved ones to celebrate a time when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. Chinese people believe the full moon is a symbol of peace, prosperity, and family reunion. CHINESE MOONCAKES are the traditional dessert of this festival. (There are many variations, but here is an easy recipe you can try at home!)
Preheat the oven to 375F
Combine butter, sugar, and 1 egg yolk and stir. Mix in the flour
Form the dough into one large ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate ½ hour.
Unwrap dough, and form small balls in the palms of your hand. Make a hole with your thumb in the center of each mooncake, and fill with ½ tsp of bean paste/jam.
Brush each cake with the other beaten egg yolk and place on a cookie sheet. (If you can find a mooncake mold place the stuffed mooncake in mold before placing on cookie sheet)
Bake for 20 min or until the outside edges are slightly brown.
