Peru received four important awards at the World Travel Awards - South America 2024, the highest tourism authority in the world. The country managed to position itself at the top of the region, standing out for its culinary, natural, cultural and historical richness.
The categories in which the country was recognized are the following: “South America's Leading Culinary Destination 2024”, “South America's Leading Cultural Destination 2024”, “South America's Leading Destination 2024”, and “South America's Leading Tourist Attraction 2024” by the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
This is a new recognition for Machu Picchu, the wonder of the modern world located in the Cusco region, which also won this award in 2023. The importance of this destination lies not only in its history for the country, but also in its cultural value for the continent.
