DOWNLOAD OUR CORPORATE
VOLUNTEER VACATION BROCHURE
With decades of experience leading groups around the world on short-term volunteer experiences, we create and manage volunteer abroad solutions for groups from 5 to 500 participants. Choose from experiences already created or speak with us to craft and tailor a project to the specific goals of your corporate or foundation group. Globe Aware has no political or religious affiliation and require no specific skillset. We create opportunities for your staff to give back in a significant way, and within a safe setting. These experiences also serve as meaningful team building experiences. All Globe Aware programs are intended to provide a win-win-win:
- The local community is able to better stand on its own two feet
- The participating staff feel uplifted at the real impact they provide
- The participating staff enjoys a greater understanding of diverse culture, global perspectives and appreciation for their own standard of living
- The sponsoring corporation or foundation enjoys higher employee retention, easier recruitment, and enhanced brand imaging
While our programs are short term, our continued and regular presence within the community means we can usually build upon prior projects and ensure that past projects are maintained. We have a diverse portfolio of project offerings, from building classrooms for special needs kids in Mexico, to assembling wheelchairs for landmine victims in Cambodia, installing concrete floors in the homes of single mothers in Guatemala, building a community center for the marginalized Roma in Romania.

FAMILY VOLUNTEERING: Experience a new culture, experience service with your loved ones in a profoundly meaningful way.
Globe Aware has a long tradition of mobilizing volunteer programs around the world for families of all ages and sizes. For us, it is perhaps the most beautiful experience there is to have together. Few opportunities in life quite offer the ability to experience another culture at same time as serving in a meaningful way. It’s fun, it’s adventurous, and it offers a rare window into the lives, challenges and true beauties of life outside one’s comfort zone.
Family Volunteer Travel
Voluntourism offers many options
8 Reasons to Take Your Teens On a Volunteer Vacation
Travel brings father, son closer
From Jeb Butler, India program, 2012
One of the main questions we get is, “Which of your programs is a good fit for families?”
All of our projects are designed for unskilled volunteers. When we are making adobe stoves, kids frequently help in mixing the mud and patting it into place. When we teach English, they participate in games of Simon Says and “Heads, Shoulders Knees, and Toes, etc.” They love painting walls with us and creating murals, there is no end of options for them. In short, there is almost ALWAYS something younger children can do. If they are of walking age, they are welcome on the program. We can even help arrange for local babysitters to help watch your children if you feel it is helpful.
Parents understandably are concerned about safety for their children at the project site. We never have our volunteers operate heavy equipment or machinery, work in war torn countries, stand high on ladders, handle bodily fluids and other similar hazards. Additionally each volunteer, regardless of age, may opt to not participate in an activity for whatever reason (jetlag, altitude sickness, any other reason), we understand there are so many dynamics going into suitability for a project at any moment.
All volunteers are recommended to be up to date on their base immunizations. Some countries *do* require special vaccinations (for example in Ghana, yellow fever vaccination is required.) Specifications for each country are outlined in the orientation materials. We pay for travel medical insurance for each and every volunteer so that if anyone gets sick or hurt for any reason, whether it’s twisting an ankle or catching a cold, we have you covered.
What about “Which of your programs is the most popular with families? Traditionally, programs in Peru and Costa Rica have been the most popular.
Our planned but optional leisure activities provide another way to create new and lasting memories not only for your children but for you. Whether it’s exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu in Cusco, Peru or zip-lining in Costa Rico in the rainforest: savor creating moments that will remain forever in the hearts and minds of your loved ones.

Solo Travelers – for the adventurous and generous of heart
Globe Aware specializes in both trips of solo travelers and groups traveling together. Our volunteers come from all walks of life from every part of the world, though the greatest percentage is from the USA, Canada and Europe.
Our usual group size of 10 makes it a great way to make new and lasting friendships. We have even had quite a few people meet their future spouses on Globe Aware programs! It’s a wonderful, non-competitive environment for getting to know others. These types of programs tend to attract people who care about the world, are inquisitive, adventurous and fun. If this describes you, you are sure to encounter like-minded people.
Living accommodations on our programs is generally two or more per room, divide by gender or any groupings that are traveling together. We give you the contact information for your fellow volunteers prior to the program start date so that you may contact one another for any additional communication. Past volunteers have met up for independent travel exploration prior to the program start date, coordinated clothing drives for the kids in Cusco, and shared research tips on their destination.
Volunteer vacationing as an individual is unique in that many people who are part of a committed relationship may engage in this kind of travel in a solo capacity.
Whatever your background, don’t hesitate to participate if you don’t have a group to travel with. The world will open up in ways you cannot imagine when traveling on your own.

Church, Temple, Synagogue, Prayer & other Spiritual Groups
Does your church, synagogue, temple or prayer group regularly engage in service abroad? Perhaps you can’t go when your group usually offers its programs or you are interested in going to a location your group has not yet explored. Globe Aware has tailored many service programs specifically for such spiritual groups and can further incorporate other elements in which your group has interest. Our programs typically last one week or more and offer a unique way to make a global impact.
Globe Aware programs do not actively engage in conversion or proselytizing. However, we do encourage organic exchange and discussion about spiritual beliefs in an informal setting.
Globe Aware organizes groups of up to 200 per location but generally needs at least three months advance notice to adequately plan. Our organization provides a coordinator per every 15 volunteers so each participant has ready access to a translator and guide on project work. Groups of 10 people or more receive a 10 percent discount.
In most locations, we can provide access to a place for spiritual gathering or meditation. Food can also generally be prepared in accordance with religious practice, though we do have locations where procuring 100 percent kosher food is difficult. Whether you practice Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam or are of a different faith, our programs offer an enlightening and often humbling experience for all involved. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn about how faith is practiced in other cultures while giving back in a meaningful way. Please contact us for help in planning a once-in-a-lifetime volunteer vacation for your group.

Service Organizations – Explore the world, serve others, change lives on an alternative spring break
Greek Organizations, Hellenic Council, fraternities, sororities, and other service organizations
You could relax on the beach in the sun, you could go skiing the slopes, hop on a cruise ship, but this year try a completely different and unique adventure – and MAKE AN IMPACT.
Service organizations enjoy giving back to their communities. Every year they raise millions of dollars for various initiatives. This year contribute to a different community while changing your world perspective: Assemble wheelchairs for landmine victims in Cambodia (and explore the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat), help school kids in Cusco, Peru learn a life skill (and see the bucket list ruins: Machu Picchu), help a Costa Rican community repair a pedestrian bridge (and zip line through the rainforest).
Most parents love to see their children gain this kind of world exposure and compassion. Many workplaces highly value service abroad and Peace Corps-like experiences on resumes as a reflection of the caliber and concerns of the applicant.
Yes it’s fun, yes it’s a challenge. Many volunteers from service organizations are able to get your service organization to recognize your volunteer vacation experience toward required service hours.
Participating in a Globe Aware experience is a fantastic way for sorority sisters and or fraternity brothers to bond with one other while enriching themselves and the lives of others with greater needs than their own. By working side by side as equals in a new environment, everyone learns things about each other that they otherwise might never have known, and perceives each other in a new light. The experience not only bonds volunteers in service, it also reinforces members of the values of their service organization
For your next spring break, consider a volunteer vacation as a new challenge to explore. You'll learn a lot about yourself, make new friends, have fun and help others!
